Can Openers: The behind-the-scenes advocates
Every fundraising dinner, every Heroes Walk, every awareness campaign, every pool party, every book swap, every movie night, every murder mystery, every benefit concert, every battle of the bands, every BINGO night, every basket sale, every 50/50 raffle, every golf tournament, every color run, every themed dance, every scavenger hunt, every casino night, every bliss bath*, every carnival, every pool party, every 5K, etc., etc., etc., has a group of volunteers who work and plan behind the scenes to make it successful. They do it for one reason — for the cause.
To the committees, the volunteers, the supporters, the planners, the designers, etc. who give of their time and talents and treasures, I present this Can Opener award. The time invested is intense — and because they are accountable for the event's success — they rarely can stop and enjoy it themselves.
These selfless advocates allow all of us to live in the Land of Can. They are true Can Openers.
