Blog Post #188 — Jaime Gialloreto, Miss New Jersey, is on a mission to raise awareness about food allergies.  Her platform, “Don’t Get Nutty: Food Allergy Awareness," is shining the spotlight on young people with food allergies and their families.

Inspired by her younger brother, who lives with multiple food allergies, Jaime highlights the three A’s: Awareness, Avoidance and Action to create a safer and more inclusive environment for all of us living with food allergies.

I had the opportunity to meet Jaime at a FARE Let's Connect conference in Cherry Hill, NJ, which was hosted by Lisa Rosenberg from Safe and Included. At the event, Jaime read my book, Land of Not, and we then talked with the young people about what they can do to live in the Land of Can. Indeed, Jaime lives in the Land of CAN. She is an incredible advocate for our community. I wish her lots of luck at the Miss America competition on September 9.

Jaime is a true Food Allergy Can Opener!
